Is there any other way to upgrade a server install other than installing the upgrade on another computer?

My server install is on seperate network than my chat client. Creating a ftp connection into my network to a machine with the upgraded server isn't going to happen. This seems (to a newbie upgrading for the first time) a really wierd and difficult way to upgrade a server install.

I hope somebody can tell me that I'm not understanding the instructions.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

I am not sure what the problem is as the update is actually the same as the initial install.

If you don't have a FTP connection, you will need to extract the files to your local computer and transfer them manually.

Thanks for the reply. The update instructions look very different to me.

1. Download the latest LiveZilla version from here. 2. Once you have downloaded the setup install it on your local computers. 3. Start the LiveZilla Server Admin on (one of) the computer(s) where the update has been installed. 4. Select "Update existing LiveZilla Server" and choose the Server Profile of the LiveZilla Server you want to update. 5. Follow the wizard until you reach the FTP inputs page and enter your FTP login details. 6. Select the folder of your initial LiveZilla installation.
Please don't skip this step and make sure that you have selected the folder of your initial installation as target folder. Do not select another folder.
7. Upload the files, run a server test and validate the URL of your server.

When I installed livezilla the first time I only had to download onto my server and install/config. The instructions above appear much different. Am I crazy? Thanks in advance.

You download the software, then you upload the files and the configuration to your server. The differences between an update and a fresh install are really negligible.

Can I just download to the server that it is running on now and install from there? Why do I need a "go-between" computer?
