Would like to have the ability to see what the client is typing live, prior to them clicking the send button.

That's a nice one for operators but we have some moral qualms regarding this feature. Nobody expects that the information typed in would be read before sending it and I am sure when customers take notice they won't like it too much.

Would love to hear what others think about this.

They are going to send the message anyway the reason to see it first is to get a head start to reply so as to keep the customer happy with fast and accurate replies. It doesn't hurt to see when they are feeding you some bull either . There are plenty of other live chat softwares that do it. Make it an on/off feature then so the ones with morals can turn it off ;) .

It is ok, it is VERY laggy. Does not update very quickly. I have seen better in other products.
You can influence the update frequency if you think that it's needed:

I see the live client typing has been cancelled due to legal reasons? I can quickly name at least a half a dozen or more other companies providing it and many law firms using it, of course that is useless as the names will be deleted. You have made the feature to be able to be turned off if someone is in a country prohibiting it. Got to call foul on this one!! Very bad move...

I think that for this chat needs to be implemented a "comet" http://bit.ly/ySiXiG for ajax request.

Yes, but this is very not promising in terms of mass compatibility. We would love to use it for many other things as well but it's not an option.

Could I ask what the "legal" issue was? Seems a weird one to me

I am talking about germany, not sure if this applies in other countries as well. The data entered in the field must be considered as private as long as the user does not attempt to send it. As a matter of course, the user does not expect his information to be send and that's the major problem. You would need to inform the user and the user would have to activate it manually. Not sure if this feature would still make sense then.

I don't really need this feature, so what do I care lol But.... What if we/you/the program could tell if a chatter is in an affected country or not? By the GeoTracking.
